How to use the bearing clamp ring

2025-09-26

Installation method of elastic retaining rings:

First, process a groove for the retaining ring that meets the standard on the shaft or bearing housing.

Use a dedicated tool - hole retaining ring pliers or shaft retaining ring pliers. Insert the jaws of the pliers into the process hole of the retaining ring, squeeze tightly to make the retaining ring open (for hole type) or contract (for shaft type).

Put it into the groove, slowly release the pressure, and the retaining ring will snap into the groove.

Notes: Ensure that the groove size matches; do not over-open the retaining ring to avoid deformation; when subjected to axial force, the side of the retaining ring should be in full contact with the end face of the bearing ring.

Installation method of pressure cover/end cover:

Put the bearing into the bearing housing.

Put the pressure cover on the shaft, aligning with the screw holes on the bearing housing.

Tighten the fixing screws evenly and diagonally.

Notes: The key is gap adjustment. For deep groove ball bearings, etc., a slight thermal expansion gap must be left between the pressure cover and the end face of the bearing outer ring (which can be measured with a feeler gauge), otherwise the bearing will be jammed after heating. The gap can be adjusted by adding shims under the pressure cover.

Combination installation method of locking washers and nuts:

Installation steps:

Put the bearing on the shaft and against the shoulder of the shaft.

Put on the locking washer and locking nut in turn.

Tighten the nut to the specified requirements with a wrench.

Key anti-loosening step: Bend the inner teeth of the locking washer and insert them into the keyway of the shaft; then pry up one of the outer \"ears\" and hook it into the radial groove of the nut.

Notes: Ensure that the inner teeth of the washer are aligned with the keyway of the shaft; it is recommended to replace new locking washers after disassembly to ensure the anti-loosening effect.

Installation and adjustment method of adjusting washers:

Installation and adjustment:

Preliminarily install the bearing and pressure cover, but do not tighten completely.

Feel the axial clearance of the bearing by rotating the shaft or measuring the resistance.

Remove the pressure cover and change the clearance by increasing or decreasing the number or thickness of the adjusting washers.

Repeat the above steps until the clearance or preload reaches the design requirements.

Notes: This is a debugging process that requires patience and precision, which is crucial for high-precision equipment.
